How to Compress Videos With VLC Media Player
Step 1. Open the VLC Media Player app. Click on Media. Scroll down to Convert/Save and click it.
Step 2. Click on Add to select the video you want to compress.
Step 3. Click the video you want to compress and click Open.
Step 4. Scroll down and click on the Convert/Save drop-down arrow. Click on Convert.
Step 5. Select the video profile.
In this part, you should choose the video format for the purpose of your video. For this video, I want to upload it on Youtube, so I chose Video for YouTube HD.
Step 6. Click on Browse to choose the folder and file of the new video.
Step 7. Rename it according to your choice.
Step 8. Click on Start to begin compressing the video.
After compression, you should go to the folder and check the video. Play the original video and compare with it the compression to check the difference in quality.
There is an important thing for you to know, the longer the length of the video, the longer it will take to compress. The time it takes to compress is not affected by the size of the video but rather by the duration of the video.
